How do we do it? We adhere to a conservative, disciplined, long-term approach. We actively manage the portfolio, which means our in-house analysts rigorously evaluate investment opportunities and work with our portfolio managers to determine the best investment decisions for the fund. As a result, we can weight portfolio investments based on our own analyses and assessments of an investment’s merit, unlike index-based energy sector ETFs that balance their portfolios on market capitalization.
Since we are organized as a closed-end fund, we can maintain greater control of our portfolio decisions. Typical mutual funds have to manage the inflows and outflows of investment dollars through up and down markets. We, on the other hand, manage a fixed pool of assets, regardless of market volatility, so we can stay the course and avoid reactive investment decisions. This allows us to manage investments with a long-term perspective. And our distinctive internal management structure keeps our expense ratio significantly lower than most mutual funds. So, with less expenses taken off the top, your returns are just that much greater.
